"Keep your hands down - don't respond to their insults and provocations. Remember not to use any of your fellow volunteers' first names." These were the instructions I was given this weekend before begining my first shift as a Planned Parenthood volunteer escort. During the coruse of the next few hours, I was called every name in the book. I was cursed at, threatened, and hated by hundreds of people.

It was the most rewarding experience of my life. More on this later - I'm exhausted.
