Imagine this...

Imagine the following scenario - a Colombian girl is sexually abused by her stepfather from the age of seven on. At eleven, he impregnates her. The country, having just legalized abortions in extreme cases, takes her case all the way to the supreme court before deciding to allow her to terminate her pregnancy. A team of doctors at a hospital perform the procedure and allow her to go back to grade school.

Now imagine that the Vatican in all its wisdom, decides to excommunicate the entire team of participating doctors and nurses and threatens the same fate to "relatives, politicians and lawmakers" whom it considers "protagonists in this abominable crime." However, they do nothing to the step father.

Now wake up - this is actually happening. Does this seem like a church that is in touch with reality?
