One of the taxis we took to Jinja
said 'Alhamdulilah' - 'Thanks be to God' in Arabic (written in English
letters)!
|
On the way to Jinja, we passed a
man transporting meat in the sweltering heat - suffice it to say the
Ugandans have much stronger immune systems than we do!
|

|

|
The town of Bugiri (same name as
the district) was 12km from Bululu and the closest town with
electricity, phones etc.
|
The main strip of Jinja - do you
notice the electrical lines? After not seeing them everywhere, we all
started to notice them.
|

|

|
In Jinja, many locals make money by
putting seats on the back of their bicycles and using them as taxis!
|
|
A view of Jinja with Lake Victoria
in the background. The northern half of the lake is in Uganda,
the southern half is in Tanzania, and the easternmost sliver is part of
Kenya.

Here, I (Nicholas) am looking out
over the White Nile.
|
Part
of Bujagali falls - they are very short but very beautiful.

Another section of Bujagali falls.
|
Relaxing on a rock overlooking the
Nile. If only my feet were a little more arched ;-)

Eden
chose a slightly different pose...

Shannon
and I goofing off before re-boarding the taxi. Shannon is an
aerialist - an acrobat of sorts and is part of a professional
company. She is also in school full-time at the Carlson School of
Management in Minnesota.
